SASSA Grant Amounts (from April 2026)

The main South African social grant amounts as increased from April 2026. The amounts are pinned; the income and asset means tests change too, so always confirm your eligibility at the source.

Older Persons Grant (age 60 to 74) R2,400
Older Persons Grant (age 75 and over) R2,420
    Child Support Grant R580

    Previous amounts (to March 2026)

    Older Persons 60 to 74 / 75+ R2,320 / R2,340
    Child Support Grant R560

Means test (income and asset limits)

    • Every grant has an income and (for some) an asset means test that decides if you qualify
    • The thresholds were updated alongside the April 2026 increase -- the figures move, so do not rely on an old number
    • Confirm the current eligibility limits and apply at sassa.gov.za or your nearest SASSA office
Guidance only. The grant amounts above are confirmed for April 2026; the means-test thresholds should be confirmed at sassa.gov.za before you rely on them, as flagged in the rate spine. Applying is free -- SASSA never charges a fee.
