    CIDB Grade Estimator

Self-assessment of the CIDB grade you can support, based on turnover, track record and capital.

    What this tool does

Takes your best annual turnover over the past two years, your largest single completed contract and your available working capital, and points at the CIDB grade those numbers typically support. The CIDB itself is the only authoritative source.

Important: CIDB tender value ranges are revised periodically and sources differ - confirm your exact grade limit on cidb.org.za before you tender.

    What the law actually says

    • The Construction Industry Development Board Act 38 of 2000 requires contractors to register with the CIDB in the appropriate grade and class of work before tendering for public-sector construction works.
    • CIDB grades 1 to 9 have published tender value ranges that are revised from time to time (see cidb.org.za).
    • The grade is awarded against financial capability (best annual turnover, available capital) and track record (largest completed works of similar nature).
