Hand over the job with paperwork that closes it out, and stops the snag email six months later.

A proper handover pack protects both you and your client. It proves what was done, what certificates were obtained, and what warranties apply. It also helps meet National Building Regulations and occupancy-certificate expectations.

Disclaimer: This tool generates a handover pack checklist based on the type of work you've done. It does not replace statutory certificates (municipal occupancy certificate, electrical Certificate of Compliance, gas Certificate of Conformity, etc.) which must be obtained from the relevant bodies. You are responsible for ensuring all required certificates are obtained and included.

    What the law actually says

    • At the end of a job you should hand over the certificates and guarantees the work generated - an electrical Certificate of Compliance (CoC) for electrical work, a gas CoC for gas work, plumbing certificates where required, plus warranties and as-built notes. A handover pack collects all of it so the client (and you) have proof the work was signed off.
